This gorgeous little illustration was used an email newsletter from Apple Japan, advertising a one-day only New Year's Day sale. It doesn't seem to be on their site anymore, but I love it so much that I've preserved it here.
I wonder how much time it took to create this, which is essentially a one-time throwaway graphic. The imagery is very Japanese culture specific, so they can't really use it anyplace else other than in Japan, and it's very 2011-specific (with the rabbit image, since 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit/Hare/Bunny).
This kind of attention to little details is one thing that makes visually oriented Apple fans, whether they are new converts or 20+ year veterans like me, happy.
Happy New Year!
Another Apple New Year's display
Hi Maki,
That's a great graphic. Although it occurs to me - the bunny will at least be relevant again in 12 years (and it's easy enough to change), whereas if they wanted to reuse it, the dated 2010-vintage products would cause a lot more trouble!
I was in a Sofmap store in Osaka over the holidays and I saw another Apple-themed display made out of those old electronics. I almost fell over laughing when I noticed what it was. After stumbling over this post, I thought you might get a kick out of it too.
