A much talked about COVID-19 related term is 自粛警察 jishuku keisatsu, "Self/voluntary restraint police". These are self-appointed vigilantes who go around 'correcting' what they perceive to be violations of Stay Home and other restraining requests.

The number of PCR tests conducted in all facilities (health dept, private facilities), minus re-tests and hospital exit tests, and what pct. of that are new positives. It is explained here (J of course): www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/2020…

Some also get violent, by throwing stones at windshields, damaging car bumpers and so on. No physical reports so far (that I can find), but arson is suspected for a fire at a hotel designated as a quarantine place in Gunma.

Self-restraining police also resort to nasty anonymous DMs, emails, letters and so on. They also put threatening notices on cars with out of prefecture license plates, yell at customers lined up to enter pachinko parlors or izakaya, and more.

On Friday (May 8) Tokyo started announcing something called a "positive rate" 陽性率 as part of their COVID-19 reports. This doesn't seem to be a standard way of measuring things, but they explain it as follows:

No other prefecture so far or the Health Ministry are using 'positive rate', so we'll see if it catches on. Governor Koike said she will use it as one of many data points to determine exit strategies.

I for one do not give a rat's ass whether the governor of Osaka is 'ikemen' (good looking) or not, but Japanese media frames their reports like 'women are drooling all over him'. Such condescending bullshit.

The graph shows important dates (e.g. 4/7 state of emergency first declared; 4/11 start of the 'close down all non-essential business request'; the light red area is the Golden Week holiday period, etc.) also.
